WAYUU VS VASCOS



In this section we will compare two subcultures, the first of them are the Vascos. They are a pre-European population settled mainly in the north of Spain, north and middle strip of Navarra and in the southwest of France. The other subculture belongs to the country of Colombia and they are called Wayuu. The Wayuu are located on the Guajira peninsula in northern Colombia and northeast of Venezuela in the state of Zulia, on the Caribbean Sea. In other words, the two subcultures are spread across different countries.


In Spain, most of the Basques can only handle Spanish and only some are capable of handling the Basque language, known as euskera. On the other hand, the Wayuu are mostly bilingual although a fraction of them in the middle and high Guajira is monolingual, their official language is Arawak.

The idea of ​​this subculture in Colombia was to belong to a group with a person with problems similar to yours or simply to be socially accepted. Currently, emos seem to have disappeared because it resembled stages of identity search in adolescents, however it is said that they have evolved to other subcultures.
