HOFSTEDE MODEL

Imagen
According to Hofstede Model, and taking into account each of the aspects I imagined that the score for Spain is as follows: -Power Dsitance:  This aspect is responsible for evaluating the country from the point of view of inequality. Because Spain is emerging from an economic crisis and its recovery is slow, I give it a high score of 75% . -Individualism: The higher this aspect, the more individualism there will be among its inhabitants. The Spanish are very faithful to their customs and protectors, I think they are mostly individualists (56%). -Maculinity:  This dimension determines what are the predominant aspects in a society, when the score is high it is considered a male society and is characterized by competition and the search for success. On the other hand, a score under society focuses on caring for others and highlights the importance of quality of life. So I give that score to Spain, since its compotiation I think it leans towards both sides. -Uncert

SUBCULTURE

Imagen
WAYUU VS VASCOS In this section we will compare two subcultures, the first of them are the Vascos. They are a pre-European population settled mainly in the north of Spain, north and middle strip of Navarra and in the southwest of France. The other subculture belongs to the country of Colombia and they are called Wayuu. The Wayuu are located on the Guajira peninsula in northern Colombia and northeast of Venezuela in the state of Zulia, on the Caribbean Sea. In other words, the two subcultures are spread across different countries. In Spain, most of the Basques can only handle Spanish and only some are capable of handling the Basque language, known as euskera. On the other hand, the Wayuu are mostly bilingual although a fraction of them in the middle and high Guajira is monolingual, their official language is Arawak. The Basques to work are involved in fishing, livestock and agriculture. Although its economy is based mainly on artisanal fishing and grazing, the Wayuu

LEWIS MODEL

The characteristics of the Spanish population place it as a multi-active culture in the Lewis model. Although Colombia is also classified as a multi-active culture, if a Spaniard decides to study in a city like Barranquilla, he will face different problems. Although the language of the two countries is the same, the words or intonation have different meanings. For example in Colombia it is common and is considered appropriate, if people say before you ask for something in a cafeteria or a store the phrase "you give me". In Spain, this word is only used to receive something at no cost, so you might think that you will leave without paying. Another example is the word camel, in Colombia it means getting a job, but in Spain they are people who sell drugs, so it can generate some confusion. Barranquilla is a city located in the coastal region, which is characterized by using words that may not exist in Spanish lexicon, and the way of speaking could make communication diffi

GENDER STEREOTYPES

Imagen
As in Colombia, the number of gender stereotypes in Spain are originated on television . The most relevant aspects in both countries is the representation of women in advertising. on the other hand, in Colombia the differentiated treatment towards women predominates. While in Spain the body of women is used to sell, in Colombia the woman is shown as a housewife, who only takes care of household chores. The latter is seen in both countries. A studio arrived at a Spanish school and asked the children to draw a fireman, police officer, an engineer and a pilot. from there only five children drew women in these professions. Although, it is an aspect that has evolved sports are other gender stereotypes that exist. In Colombia lately we want to promote women's football, through television campaigns, low-cost tickets and other incentives. Spanish children were asked what exercises they would practice when they were older, most of the boys preferred soccer, while the girls wanted to

With the iceberg of culture, we will compare aspects of Spain with Colombia. LANGUAGE:  - The official language of Spain is Spanish but in addition there are languages that can be considered as official in their regions. Catalan, Galician, Basque, Occitan, Asturian, Aragonese, and Fala are the other languages spoken. - The political constitution of Colombia establishes that the official language of Colombia is Spanish, like all the dialects and languages of ethnic groups. English is spoken in the archipelago of San Andres and Providencia. Although the population handles the Spanish language between the regions, the intonation and lexical differences vary. FOOD: - The cuisine of Spain is characterized by the great variety of dishes and by fusion of flavors from the different regions and cultures of Spain. There are different stereotypes about Spanish culture, among which we find: - All Spaniards like to mistreat animals. It is one of the most common stereotypes that encompass the culture of Spain due to frequent bullfights and bullfighting places. Although only one animal is injured, it is generalized to all. But the reality is that there are a lot of anti-bullfighting associations throughout the country. -  All people in Spain dance flamenco. The reality is that flamenco is a purely typical dance of southern Spain and not even in this region everyone knows how to dance it. There are many cultural dances.

PEOPLE

Imagen
I BELIEVE... This is a drawing that shows how are the different physical aspects or body features about Spanish people, which I imagine when someone tells me about this culture.   I believe that most of the Spanish population is white skinned and they have colored eyes. The women are very beautiful, they are thin whit long hair and usually the color of her hair is black. Men are also thin, but they are very tall and they usually have a beard. These are the aspects that are reflected in the drawing. BUT... When you start researching, you realize that the diversity in the Spanish population is large, as a result of the mixture of religions and ideologies. By:  CNN. 2010.  This image was taken before the end of the 2010 South African World Cup. These types of events usually unite all people so they are very important to contrast with our previous drawing. The first aspects that we can notice is the color of people's skin and the color of their eyes. Not all
